Who We Are and Why We Care About Your Dog's Nutrition

Pet Owners and Lovers!

We currently own three Rottweilers and a Bloodhound. We also foster up to four dogs at the time for rescue. After losing numerous pets to disease and cancer we started doing research. To our horror we realized that we not only contributed to their suffering but may have also caused it by feeding them poor foods and vaccinating them yearly. On of our main inspirations is Mabel, the bloodhound we rescued. (Read her story)

Why Wholesome Hound?

There is an urgent need. Most chain and grocery store foods are very poor quality. Even national brands sold by veterinarians contain cheap fillers, large amounts of grains and byproducts which are not healthy food sources for our pets. We recognized that Dothan pet owners needed a source for good wholesome pet foods.

Rescuers!

I am the president of an Alabama based Rottweiler rescue http://www.adoptarott.net. Although I specialize in Rottweilers, I have helped and owned many different breeds of dogs. A portion of all profits generated on this site are donated to rescue.

Animal Health and Nutritional Advocates

All creatures deserve a voice. As pet owners, we are their only representatives. We strongly encourage people to research the care, health and feeding of your pets. Be an informed consumer and pet owner. Don't believe advertising and don't take everything you are told at face value. You owe it to your pet to find the answers on your own and do what you think is in their best interest. Remember, Food and Pharmaceutical companies bring enormous pressure upon veterinarians and provide most of the research and information they receive. Since these companies have a financial interest in the information they provide,we don't feel that it is always acurate. Have a question? Ask us! We would love to help.

Wannabe Tree Huggers!

We strongly believe that providing a diet as close to nature as possible and the most natural approaches to our pet's health care are best. We use and encourage alternative therapies with our animals. Although we highly respect our veterinarian, we are always striving to find ways to overcome health challenges without the use of harsh synthetic medications or invasive procedures.
